I am just warning you now that I am completely and unashamedly in LOVE with Valentine's Day, so if you are one of those "IT'S SOOOO COMMERCIAL" folks, feel free to walk away while you still can.
If, however, you are like me and can't get enough of the sugary-sweetness of this season, then please, pull up a heart-shaped cushion and stay a while :)
This past weekend Alex and I had a Valentine's-themed brunch for a few of our sweetest girlfriends! A few of the girls we invited couldn't make it, but we still had a wonderful time! Unfortunately, I am so used to not having a camera that I completely forgot to take "Before" pictures of all the food and treats set out nicely. I may be the worst blogger of all time. Thankfully I did remember while everybody was still there and treats were still being munched on, so I do have a few snapshots to share:
The best cinnamon scone recipe EVER.
Chocolate chip cookies (homemade) and social tea biscuits (not homemade - but adorable!)
Kendra, my best friend since childhood!
A Valentine-making station...nobody partook, we were all busy talking, but it looked cute anyway!
A view of the whole partayyy! this was after everybody left...i swear people came, really.
I know those pictures are sort of the worst ever, but hey, it's something right??
In other news, I have been continuing the Valentine's decor goodness throughout our apartment. Here's a little setup on our trunk/"coffee table" in our living room:
The vintage Valentine's are from my mom; I'm not sure where she got them but she's been decorating with them for forever. Growing up, she always made Valentine's Day seem so magical, which is probably why I love it so much! The pink and hearts and candy and confetti ran rampant in our house in February, and on the actual day my brothers and I always woke up to perfectly decorated baskets full of candy and little presents to make our Day of Love so very special. Thanks for the sweet memories mama! That is a tradition I am sure I will continue when I have kids of my own, not to mention just for myself :)
Adding immense charm to the Valentine's season are these banners, handmade by Alex! Most of them are paper heart chains, a few with some of that swoon-worthy red and white striped twine added in. It's like living inside of a heart-shaped candy box over here, people. And I love every second of it!
What do you like to do for Valentine's Day? Do you have any traditions or decorating tidbits that you do every year? I'd love to hear about them, and perhaps steal a few ideas :)
